VEON is a global telecommunications and digital operator that provides services to nearly 160 million customers in the six growing frontier markets of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This submission is focused on VEON’s support for Ukraine alongside its wholly-owned subsidiary Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest telecommunications provider with around 25 million subscribers – over half the population of Ukraine. Despite relentless attacks on its infrastructure since the outbreak of Russia’s war on Ukraine, Kyivstar has sustained over 93% connectivity for Ukrainians throughout the war. Our engineers have repaired over 675 damaged mobile base stations and swiftly restored connections in liberated areas, ensuring that Ukrainians remain connected with their loved ones at home and abroad.

In 2023, responding to a clear need for private sector support for Ukraine’s resilience while the war remains ongoing, VEON and Kyivstar launched their ‘Invest in Ukraine Now!’ campaign to persuade other businesses and the private sector to invest in Ukraine’s bright future. Since the launch of the campaign, VEON has committed $1bn to the nation’s reconstruction and connectivity.
