The Body Shop administration: Citypress on behalf of FRP Advisory

Citypress

When FRP Advisory was appointed as administrator of The Body Shop in February 2024, they faced the immense challenge of managing one of the UK's most high-profile administrations. The iconic retailer's collapse drew intense media scrutiny, with stakeholders ranging from 3,000 employees to international suppliers, multiple potential buyers, and millions of loyal customers. The situation was particularly complex as some key suppliers were also secured creditors, creating additional tension between maintaining operations and managing creditor interests.

Citypress developed and executed a sophisticated communications strategy that enabled FRP to successfully navigate this challenging landscape. Our approach balanced the critical need to maintain brand value to secure a sale with the immediate challenges of keeping staff engaged and suppliers onboard during store closures. Despite intense speculation, leaked information, and counter briefings from various interested parties, we maintained control of the narrative and ensured balanced, accurate reporting in key media outlets. The strategy culminated in the successful sale to Aurea in September 2024, securing the future of remaining stores and employees while delivering returns for creditors and protecting an iconic British brand.
